Holme Valley Sharing Memories is an integenerational organisation based at the Phoenix centre in Holmfirth.  Our members are all ‘volunteers’ (currently in their 70s, 80s and 90s) and we meet once a week on a Thursday afternoon between 1pm-3,30pm during school term time and work with three local artists on a range of creative projects.  Transport is provided to bring our members to the sessions.
One of our aims is to bring older people together to share their memories of the past with each other and with the wider community and to use these shared memories as a basis for creating high quality art works. Established for over 20 years, our work is well received both in the Holme Valley and further afield. We also take our skills and experience into other community settings, working regularly with local primary and high schools and with other community groups. In addition we make memory boxes, books, folders and a variety of other archive material which can be used by the wider community.
There is no cost to join, just a nominal donation of £3 per week towards transport costs.
